1. What is a self-directed learner? What are the essential aspects of self-directed learning?

2. What are your two biggest strengths as a student? How will these strengths help you become a self-directed learner?

3. What are your two biggest weaknesses as a student? How do these affect your readiness to be a self-directed learner?

4. Describe at least three strategies to become a more self-directed learner. How will you hold yourself accountable for your growth as a learner?

1) A self-directed learner is one who takes initiative to learn on his own, and does not require any help to learn a new thing.

Essential aspects of self-directed learning are-

• Motivation
• Choosing the right resources
• Consistency
• Self-diagnosis
• Application of the learning

2) My biggest strengths as a student-

• Internal motivation
• Focus
• Long attention span
• High retention ability

These strengths will surely boost my journey towards being a self-directed learner, as they will be my support pillars and will help me not deviate from the goal. In fact they will help clear all roadblocks on the journey.

3) My biggest weaknesses as a student-

• Peer influence
• Pressure

These weaknesses might deviate me from my path, and I will make efforts to overcome my weaknesses.

4) 3 strategies-

• Build a community of self-directed learners. Engaging with them will ensure consistency in progress.
• Use interesting mediums of learning such as digital media, field visits, experimentation & observation.
• Set goals and review progress in a timed manner.
