Mitochondria is an semiautonomusem organelles which have there own DNA and RNA so they can synthesis thier enzmen which helps in oxidation of food. Respiration is defined as cumbustion of food.

If there is any defect in mitochondrial gene which inherited in baby from mother it may cause deafness, diabetes and myopathy.

As mitochondria generates energy in form of ATP any defect in mitochondrial gene lead to stop body functions.
