As the temperature increases, there will be a gradual increase in the rate of reaction. An increase in temperature results in increase in average kinetic energy of the particles. As the kinetic energy increases, the particles move more rapidly and collide more frequency. Each time they collide, they posses greater energy which increases the reaction rate.

Once the enzyme reaches its maximum activity, further increase in temperature does not enhance further the rate of reaction. Further increase in temperature results in denaturation of enzyme and gradual loss of enzyme. The temperature where the enzyme activity is maximum with minimum damage to the enzyme is called the enzyme's optimum Temperature.
