Question
This is a dry lab assessment for synthesis of Nylon 6,6. I believe I understand how to calculate the limiting reagent (Q1) and have determined it to be adipic acid. I’m stuck on calculating the theoretical yield (Q2) and need some help getting through the bullet points of the procedure used to answer the question. Thanks!

1. In the experiment, you are instructed to use 0.500 g of adipic acid and 0.40 g of hexamethylenediamine. Calculate the mmolb) Mass of HMD A (Henamithylene diombinu) word = ? As we know, HM DA and Alithic acid are reacting in 1:1 molar ratio. So, say mass of the = 3.038103 mol Mass of the lost Moly of 40 = > Mokes of Adific and 189 med Mass Massotho = in 0. what is the theoretical yield for this experiment? ORGANIC POLYMERS: THE SYNTHESIS OF NYLON Nylon's outstanding characteristic in the textile industry is its versatility. It can be made strong enough to stand up under the punishment tire cords must endure, fine enough for sheer, high fashion hosiery, and light enough for parachute cloth and backpacker's tents. Nylon is used both alone and in blends with other fibers, where its chief contributions are strength and abrasion resistance. Nylon washes easily, dries...

I did an experiment where I added 0.272 g of p-toluic acid (MW=136.1) and 0.357 g of N- bromosuccinimide (MW: 177.98), and 2 mg of benzoyl peroxide (MW: 242.2) and 2.5 mL chlorobenzene. The mass of the final product was 0.27 g. Benzoyl peroxide is an initiator so you do not need to determine the moles used in the experiment. Determine the limiting reagent, theoretical yield and the percentage yield.
