10 ans). Prophase 1 of meiosis and Prophase of Mitosis are same in following ways:

Chromatin condenses to form chromosomes.
Centrioles move towards opposite poles.
Formation of spindle fibers takes place in both Prophase 1 and Prophase.
Nuclear membrane breaks down followed by disappears.
Since chromosomes separate for this reason nucleolus disappears.

Prophase 1 of meiosis and Prophase of Mitosis are different in following ways:

Prophase 1 of Meiosis Prophase of Mitosis
Chiasma is formed Chiasma is not formed
Crossing over occurs between choromosomes Crossing over is absent in this phase
Prophase 1 is a long phase and is divided into the sub phases It is a short phase does not has any sub phases
Homologous chromosomes pair because of the attraction between them. Homologous chromosomes do not pair .
