2. Which allele is dominant? Why?

3. Draw the punnet square associate with a self-fertilization of the F1.

4. What proportion of the offspring will show the dominant phenotype?

5. What proportion of the offspring will be heterozygous?

Consider a gene with 2 alleles, W1, and W2.

Each line is homozygous for its respective allele- W1W1 and W2W2.

When the 2 lines are crossed- W1W1 X W2W2.

F1 progeny- W1W2

1. What is the genotype of the F1? What gametes can if produce?

Answer- Genotype of F1 progeny- W1W2

Gametes produced- W1 and W2

2. Which allele is dominant? Why?

Answer- Allele W2 is dominant. W2 is dominant because only a single copy of W2 is enough to show it's the phenotype.

3. Draw the punnet square associate with the self-fertilization of the F1?

Answer-  W1W2 X W1W2

W1 W2
W1 W1W1 W1W2
W2 W1W2 W2W2

4. What proportion of the offspring will show the dominant phenotype?

Answer- 75% or 3/4 show a dominant phenotype.

5. What proportion of the offspring will be heterozygous?

Answer- 50% or 1/2 are heterozygous.
