1. In protostomes, during embryonic development, the blastophore develops into the mouth on the anterior side of the body while in deuterostomes the blastophore develops into the opening of the alimentary canal (from where excretion takes place) into the posterior part of the body.

2. In protosomes, the developing nerve cord is ventral in position while in deuterostomes the nerve cord is dorsal in position.

3. Spiral cleavage takes place in protostomes while radial cleavage takes place in deuterostomes.

4. Shizocoelom is found in protostomes while enterocoelom is found in deuterostomes.
