Answer #1

recombination frequency if the genes are not linked=50%.

so if the genes are linked the recombination frequency is less than 50%

recombination frequency= (number of recombinant progenies/total number of progenies)\times100

recombination frequency is the percentage of recombinant progenies, so if the genes are linked on a chromosome the number of recombinant progenies is less.

here the number of red oval and yellow long are less than that of the other phenotypes.

recombination frequnecy=( number of red oval + number of yellow, long/total number)\times100

= (5+5/100)\times100

= 10%

recombination frequency in percentage is the distance between genes in cM, so the distance between genes=10 cM

I included everything here , but i only need help with parts C-F You are working with a hypothetical fly and have found color and wing mutants. Preliminary work indicates that the mutant traits are recessive and the associated genes are not sex-linked, but beyond that you have no information. You first look at 2 genes, each with two alleles: "Borb" for body color and "Wor w" for wing surface. The red body phenotype is dominant to the yellow body...

Two independently assorting genes help determine fruit color in squash. At the first locus, the W allele codes for a dominant white phenotype, whereas the w allele allows colored squash. At the second locus, the allele Y codes for a dominant yellow phenotype, and the allele y codes for a recessive green phenotype. The interaction between these two genes is an example of dominant epistasis, with the W locus acting as the epistatic locus and the Y locus acting as...
