1. in aerobic respiration oxygen is consumed in three processes.

  • in glycolysis to produce pyruvate and ATP from glucose and oxygen.
  • in the Kreb cycle, oxygen is used indirectly as electron acceptors in the electron transport chain.
  • in electron transport chain where oxygen combines with the electron and two hydrogen atoms to make the water

4. carbon dioxide is responsible for making holes in the bread. this gas is produced by yeast digesting carbohydrates in the flour of bread.

5. two types of fermentation are.

  • alcoholic fermentation - conversion of sugers to alcohol
  • lactic acid fermentation.

and in human skeletal muscle lactic acid fermentation takes place where conversion of sugar to acid takes place in the absence of oxygen which makes muscle sore.

6. NAD acts as the electron and hydrogen acceptor and it also has the unique ability to protect the cell by DNA repair. it also transfers energy from glucose and fatty acid to the mitochondria.

7. yeast is a fungus, not plant or bacteria.
