Answer #1

Answer =

True of phagocytosis =

all of these are true

dendritic cells and macrophages are examples of phagocytes

Explanation - phagocytes are cells that protect the body by ingesting harmful foreign particles , bacteria and dead or dying cells.

the phagocytes include many types of white blood cells such as neutrophils, monocytes , macrophages and dendritic cells.

opsonization increases phagocytosis = opsonization is the process in which certain antibodies in the blood known as opsonins bind to the surface of an invading microorganisms, which renders it more susceptible to phagocytosis.

Some bacterial pathogens can evade phagocytosis using a capsule = The capsule is a virulence factor because it enhances the ability of bacteria to cause disease for example prevents phagocytosis.

The capsule can protect cells from engulfment by eukaryotic cells, such as macrophages.

Some bacterial pathogens can escape from the phagolysosome or prevent it from forming = some bacteria can escape from phagolysosome into cytoplasm.

Apoptotic cells are efficiently phagocytosed by neighboring cells or macrophages. Which one of the following does NOT normally happen in this process? The apoptotic cell exposes phosphatidylserine on its surface, which interacts with receptor proteins on the surface of phagocytes via "bridging" proteins. The apoptotic cell releases some of its cytoplasmic content to induce a local inflammatory response. The apoptotic cell loses or inactivates "don't eat me" signals. The apoptotic cell rounds up and detaches from its neighbors, which facilitates...
