The kingdom Animalia is defined to be as organisms which are multicellular, heterotrophic eukaryotes, lacks cell walls, self propelled and cable of sexual reproduction.

Protozoan does not necessarily fit to the definition.

Protozoan are animal like because they are heterotrophic as well as cable of moving. But they are not animals, as they are single celled organism which are thought to be the ancestors of animals.
