Our digestive system include following parts -

Mouth , pharynx, oesophagus , stomach ,gall bladder, pancrease, liver , intestine (small& large).

Associated digestive glands are those which provides digestive secretions /juices -

Salivary gland , gastric gland , pancrease, liver & it's associates (gall bladder & bile duct).

Function of digestive system is to breakdown complex compound into simpler one so they can be easily absorb by our body.

1.Mouth- It mechanically breakdown the large food particle into smaller one .

Saliva helps in digestion of carbohydrate.

3.oesophagus - only passes the ingested food(bolus) to the stomach by means of peristalsis movement of the smooth muscle of oesophagus.

3.stomach-It releases gastrice juice which is acidic(pH 1-2) in nature . Here protein is converted into polypeptide by pepsin.

4.Pancrease- pancreatic juice is s secreted by it.

This secretions contain (trypsin, lipase,amylase )which carried out digestion of protein ,fqt, carbohydrate.

5.Liver-It has a wide range of function -

a) metabolism -play a important role in metabolism of carbohydrate, protein,fat.

b) detoxification - of both endogenous & exogenous substance

c) Biosynthesis- synthesis of blood clotting factors , albumin etc.

d) storage of fat & water soluble vitamins.

6.Intestine- It's main function is to absorb the digested food & help in formation of fecal matter.
