The blood sugar levels depend on our diet and maintained via hormonal activity of endocrine glands. The main component of our blood sugar is glucose and remains in the normal range of 110 to 180 mg per 100 ml blood. If someone takes carbohydrates rich diet (maltose & starch) the blood sugar levels temporarily go to rise and excess sugar (glucose) converts into glycogen via the glycogenesis to store in liver and body muscles.
But during fasting condition when blood sugar level drops significantly, the stores carbohydrate convert back to glucose via glycogenolysis with the help of glucagon process to restore normal blood glucose.
