Socrates said to his jurors, "Are you not ashamed that, while you take care to acquire as much wealth as possible, with honor and glory as well, yet you take no care or thought for understanding truth, or for the best possible state of your soul?"  Do you agree with this attitude?   Why or why not?

I agree with Socrates in blaming his jurors who were corrupted and worked for earning wealth but they failed to identify truth. They were working for the emperors or represent the emperors who ruled them. Judges are expected to support truth and intellectuals but Socrates believed that they took the side of ignorance. However, it was the attitude of the society towards everyone who initiated any change in the society. Although their opinions were not considered then, they were treated as great souls later.

I strongly believe that one needs to lead a life that would help one develop one’s intellectual capability, earn wealth through just means and help others to find a better life not in terms of materialist life but in terms of strengthening their humanitarian element. This would mean people need to identify their life’s purpose and contribute not only to their betterment but also for the betterment of others. People who hold prestigious positions in society and government should utilize their position to support those who are disadvantaged.
