DNA Squencing

What do you think about DNA sequencing? Would you like your DNA to be sequenced and made public? Would you want other people’s DNA ID out in the open for everybody to see? If you were getting married, would you want to see your fiancé’s DNA map? If you were an employer, would you ask for DNA maps before you hired people? If everybody could easily obtain their DNA ID, and some chose to put it on social media, what kind of problems would arise? Would you want to see their DNA IDs if you were electing people? What other ideas and opinions do you have about this subject?

DNA sequencing is the process of determining the sequence of nucleotides within the DNA molecule. It determines the order of 4 nucleotides adenine, guanine, thymine and cytosine in the DNA strand.DNA sequencing has applications in various fields such as Biotechnology, medicine, agriculture, virology, forensic biology etc. The nucleotide sequencing is the most fundamental level of knowledge of a gene. It is a blueprint that contains information about the buildup of an organism.

I would like to get my DNA to be sequenced but I don't want it to be made public. By DNA sequencing I can get the entire information about my genetic buildup. This helps me to understand if any changes that my DNA has undergone when compare to normal. It helps me if I am prone to any cancers in future. Not only cancer but any other diseases like diabetes, etc. In the same I like other people's DNA can also be sequenced but not to be made public. Because it is like one's personel bank account which he doesn't want others to share it.

I would like to see my fiance's genetic map before getting married as it helps to know if she is having any heriditary disease. So that it won't affect my children. Because for some diseases females can be carriers.

Yes, I will ask for genetic map before hiring people but I will surely see that it will be maintained as a secret file. Because it should not hurt ones personel interest. If a person working under me is a poor, it helps me to know the status of a particular person. What type of diseases he is prone to and what way I can help to his medical aid. Is it possible to prevent any disaese he is prone to as prevention is better than cure. Any type of insurance he can get which can help to face the financial burden.

If everybody could easily obtain their DNA and some chose to put it on social media it may go viral and your condition will be spread if you have any heriditary problems. Some may hurt you by keeping you a side. As genetic diseases become increasingly common in many people, sharing of information is likely to increase. This may increase the vulnerability of database to abuse and hacking.

It is nothing wrong to know the data base if we are going to elect people. Because it is necessary to choose not only good persone but also healthy person as it prevents byelection to some extent and decrease the burden on the nation if a particular person is prone to deradful disease. But the election commission should maintain it confidentially and prevent him from contesting the election.
