ANSWER

b.

Takt time = Available time / desired demand rate = 3600 seconds per hour / 68 units per hour = 53 seconds

c.

Total task time = 10+21+20+28+12+10+40 = 141 seconds

Theoretical need number of stations = Total task time / takt time = 141 /53 = 2.66 ~ 3

d.

Assignment of tasks as per longest operating time rule

Workstations Tasks in order Workstation time (seconds) Idle time (seconds)
1 A, B, C 10+21+20 = 51 51-51=0
2 D, E, F 28+12+10 = 50 51-60=1
3 G 40 51-40=11

e.

Cycle time of the balanced line = 51 seconds

Lead time = cycle time * number of workstations = 51*3 = 153 seconds

Efficiency of the balanced line = Total task time / Lead time = 141 /153 = 0.921 or 92.1 %

f.

New takt time = 3600/58 = 62 seconds
