using Matlab:
A drug administered to a patient produces a concentration in the bloodstream given by
c(t)=Ate^(-t/3)
milligrams per milliliter, t hours after A units have been injected. The maximum safe concentration is 1.00 mg/mL.
What amount should be injected to reach this maximum safe concentration, and when does this maximum occur? (Use calculus to find the time when a maximum occurs. Then set c(tmax) = 1 to solve for A.)
An additional amount of this drug is to be administered after the patient falls to 0.25 mg/mL. Determine to the nearest minute, when this second injection should be given.
Set up an equation 0.25 = Ate-t/3 in appropriate function form
Find the answer using bisection with approximate first guesses. How many steps did it take to reach appropriate accuracy?
Find the answer using Newton-Raphson with one of your starting guesses. How many steps did this method take?
Find the answer using the secant method with the starting guesses from (b). How many steps did this method take?
Assume that the concentration from consecutive injections is additive and that 75% of the amount originally injected is administered in the second injection. When is it time for the third injection?
