Etisalat staff comes from 80 different countries. The company has many employee engagement activities which must appeal to all cultures. Their many different best practices are primarily because of their multicultural and diverse teams who have a high level of engagement. Etisalat believes in putting a smile on the face of every employee. They have received the award for innovation in employee engagement. A survey has shown that 90% of the staff are proud to work for the company while 84% state a high level of job satisfaction.

They keep the employee motivated by rewarding their performance with fully paid trips to a different destination for top performers etc. Employee engagement and cross-cultural communication are primarily due to their various employee engagement programs. They feel that employee engagement and communication is a two-way process i.e a relationship between the company and the employee. They also feel both are responsible for their cross-cultural communication and engagement.

The employees are put through one on one sessions, focus groups, and training sessions to explain how communication and engagement is a collaboration between them and not the task of the company only.

The communication and employee engagement programs have evolved over the last 5 years as the business scenario is changing and so have the management techniques. The employees are encouraged to share their feedback, participate in focus groups, staff suggestion scheme and opinion polls. The feedback from employees is used as a tool to enhance the employee engagement program like wellness week, spirit of happiness week, travel week, etc. The employees are rewarded financially and otherwise too. The employee engagement levels have increased year on year from 2014 to 2017.

90% of staff knows the senior leadership is committed to providing high-quality products and services to the customers. The entire team and communication are focused on delivering the same.

Spot awards are given where any employee can reward another employee for his performance. The points can be used to pay mobile bills, buy smartphone and laptops. An employee can reward his boss and peers too. The company has many ways to improve in internal communication by continuously getting feedback, implementing it and rewarding the employees for the suggestions.

The company is continuously thinking of ways to improve employee engagement and also improve the levels of communication. They focus on the five essential elements of well being- career, social, financial, physical and community.

To conclude the company is continuously ensuring the free flow of ideas, focusing on improving employee engagement, using their feedback and making it their strength to innovate and find new ways to satisfy the employees and the customers.
