ANSWER :-

  1. Accordingly, the point that needs to be focussed is the docking of the synaptic vesicles near the pre-synaptic membrane. There is an active zone that deals with the docking of the synaptic vesicles near the pre-synaptic membrane and release of neurotransmitter depending upon the action potential that is generated.
  2. The active zones are associated with the Active Zone material which are protein associated macromolecules that helps in the docking process and the distance between the pre-synaptic membrane and the unbound synaptic vesicles. When the distance is more, there are relatively less number of Active zone material proteins associated in an integrated manner with the vesicles.
  3. Although, as the distance decreases, there is more destined aggregation of the proteins with the predetermined synaptic vesicles which fused with the pre-synaptic membrane.
  4. This is basically dependent upon the type of response to be mediated, the type of vesicles such as the core dense vesicles which are relatively less and more prominent. Their docking mechanisms involves fusion of a ligand ( neurotransmitter containing vesicle ) with the membrane which leads to release of the neurotransmitter into the synaptic cleft to get bound to specific receptors on the post-synaptic membrane to elicit a specific response. The entire fate of the vesicle is pre-determined before its alignment with the Active zone material and hence the release of neurotransmitter from axonal terminals depends upon the interaction with AZM (Active zone material) as well as the pre-defined release mechanism that codes the vesicles to be released.
