What is the difference between a silent mutation, point mutation and a missense mutation?
If you not mind, can you type the answer.I do not understand handwriting in sometime. Please
Thanks
Silent Mutation: this is the mutation in which a nucleotide get changed due to the mutation but that will not change the amino acid. In other words final amino sequence will not get changed and no phenotypic change due to change in a single nucleotide.
Point Mutation: A mutation in which a single nucleotide base get inserted or deleted that will eventually affect the downstream protein sequence after translation.
Missense mutation: It is type of mutation in which change in nucleotide base results into change in codon and eventually change in amino acid.

Please explain why,, for the second prob, why is it not missense mutation.. 20. The following bit of the human RefSeq includes the entire first exon of a protein coding gene and part of the second exon 5'-AACTAACCACTGTCCGTACTCTGCCAGCCATCCGTAGC-3' 21. The canonical splice junctions are 5'-GU....AG-3', where ... indicates additional intronic sequence. Which of the following is a candidate for the protein-coding portion of the processed mRNA from this sequence? a. 5'-TACCGACCGTCTACCAATAAC-3' b. 5'-GCTACGGATGGCTGGCAGAGT-3' c. 5' -GUACGGACAGUGGUUAGUUCC-3' d. 5'-AUGGCUGGCAGAUGGUUAGUU-3' e. 5'-AACTAACCATCTGCCAGCCAT-3'...

Which of the following adenines could you mutate to create a silent transversion mutation? 5'-ATG GGA TGG CAC CTG-3' Answer: A to G or C to T -I don't really understand why this is the answer. I get that the adenine you will use is the one in the GGA, since it is the third codon it will cause a silent mutation. But why does the answer key say A to G or C to T? Shouldn't it say A...
