Maersk has been the largest container ship and supply vessel operator in the world since 1996. The company is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, with subsidiaries and offices across 130 countries and around 88,000 employees.
With such a Huge number of employees in the company.The global conditions like Legal structure, Cultural differences, Economic Conditions etc have impact on Human resource management Policies within this organization.because it is a global company the human resources department has to be aware of internal and external conditions that could or will affect the organization, this includes specific HR laws in various companies as well. Policies for the organization will have to have a flexibility to them so as to ensure they can be adapted as climates in different countries change. With recent high turnover Maersk's will have to reevaluate their training and hiring practices and policies to allow for better recruitment strategies as well.
With Changes in global conditions, This organization needs to adaptable because global conditions are dynamic. historically Maersk had mainly hired from a pool of young and untrained individuals so that the company could train their employees in their two-year training program, however, due to the increased employee turnover Maersk had to reevaluate their training and hiring policies. This re-evaluation shows that the human resources department at Maersk can adapt to changes in global conditions.Also, Company has to focus on legal factors like employment law, Compensation laws, etc of each country where it has operations so that it could avoid any legal actions.
