There are 2 types of fat in a diet. These are visible fat and invisible fat.

Visible fats are those that can be identified readily by naked eyes. Examples include butter, margarine, cream, oil etc

Invisible is not discerned by naked eye but is already present in the food. Visible fat can become invisible once its integrated into the food. Example butter used in preparation of bread is visible before incorporation and invisible after incorporation into bread.

All types of fats including saturated fatty acids (SFA), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) provide 9 kcal/gm.
