The work should be at least one page (250 words) in length.
The answer to Q 5: The business leader who is not an effective communicator:
A business leader is a person who directs the employees to achieve goals. In my opinion, a business leader who does not connect with the employees is an ineffective communicator. When a leader connects with the employees, he can get the best from the employees. Employees dedicate extra time and efforts if they feel connected with the leader. According to Harvard Business Review, the business leaders who do not recognize employee achievements, do not give clear instructions, do not dedicate time to meet the employees, and/or take credits of other’s ideas are not effective communicators.
To recognize employees’ achievements the leader should praise them. ‘Good work’ sounds very mechanistic, so the leader should recognize the achievements to motivate the employees. A leader possesses technical skills, knowledge about the business and ideas to grow the business. But at the same time, the leader should communicate the same with the employees. When a leader fails to provide clear instructions or directions, it is termed as ineffective communication. Apart from the instructions and recognitions, the employees must be addressed by the leaders on a regular basis. The leaders who fail to dedicate time to meet the employees, or reschedule the meetings often are ineffective communicators. The leaders should communicate with the subordinates on a one-to-one basis in order to make them trust. The employees trust when they feel that a leader has time for them. Another important characteristic of an ineffective communicator is to take someone’s idea and do not recognize that person. A leader, who does not recognize the contribution, gives a perception that the employees’ ideas and opinions do not matter. A leader should always try to make employees feel that their opinions matter and the organization always tries to implement the best practices to recognize their ideas.
