In my view, there is some or the other egoistic motive involved in altruistic actions. When individuals help others, they usually feel good about themselves or can attain some social recognition for their work. It may also be that they help others with the expectation that they will we rewarded later. There may be many other motives for helping, but some of them are self serving. Therefore, I do believe that in general, people engage in altruism keeping some of their own interests in mind.
