Answer #1

When more emphasis is given on pluralism, then attention is given on diversity and or putting more representation to people with different background and belief. So, it is setting up more democracy and it is making USA to be true democratic ways where the majoritarianism does not dominate. In democracy, people are elected on the basis of majority and it can make minorities to suffer, but pluralism diminishes this form of democracy. In this way, it can be considered that the USA has moved away that traditional form of democracy where majority ruled, even if it hurt minorities

Interest groups are able to influence the lawmakers, but  it does not mean that interest groups can put pressure without substance. For example, for legal rights of people of LGBTQ nature, got support from the people and it became a movement for a considerable duration. It forced lawmakers to take it seriously in different states so that law was passed such as same sex marriage. But, interest groups taking a soft approach for anti-social people in the name of their human rights, are not considered on a serious note. So, it is a case to case basis, where interest groups can exert influence and power.
