a) Answer- PCR (polymerase chain reaction) mimics the biological DNA replication process where in biological replication process DNA polymerase synthesizes inside cell and in PCR DNA is synthesized in tet tube in many cycles to produces many copies of DNA.

b) Answer- similarities between cellular DNA replication and PCR are -

1. In cellular DNA replication and in PCR, DNA strand serve as template and free nucleotides are required to elongate new DNA strand.

2. The direction of DNA synthesis is 5' to 3' in in vivo and in vitro DNA replication because the DNA polymerase has 5' to 3' polymerase activity.
