Emile Durkhiem worked extensively on structure of society and made significant contributions to field of psychology

He tried to explain how traditional as well as modern society evolved and function. He founded his theory based on social values, norms , and society's structure.

He gave various theories which was based on external factors such as structure of society etc instead if internal factors such as motivation rtc as suggested by other theorist.

He basically gave few theories, some of which are

Theory of FUNCTIONALISM - society must be described and analysed in terms of function. All part of society work as a system, and if any part changes , all other parts has to make adjustment.

Theory if division of labor- as per durkhiem , traditional society was homogeneous and people were aimilarbin belief , background and status . However , modern society is a complex one , with different religion, beliefs, background and division of labor- He explain this division of labor in terms of status in society , different status people have different works to do.
