describe aspects of various stages of the wound healing process and explain why tissue that is avascular tend not to heal well.
Four stages of of wound healing process
Hemostasis. Inflammation, Proliferation and Maturation. Stages of wound healing are linear, wounds can progress backward or forward depending on internal and external conditions of patient.
Hemostasis
It is the process of the wound being closed by clotting.it starts when blood leaks out of the body. First step of hemostasis is when blood vessels constrict to restrict the blood flow.Next platelets stick together in order to seal the break in the wall of the blood vessel.finally coagulation occurs and reinforces the platelet lung with threads of fibrin which are like a molecular binding agent. This stage appears very quickly.after the formation of fibrin the blood becomes gel through pro coagulant and release of prothrombin. The formation of thrombus trapped in the wound area. This thrombus detaches and entering into the circulatory system causing stroke or heart attack
Inflammatory phase
It is the 2 stage and begins right after the injury when the injured blood vessels leaks transudate causing localised swelling. Transudate made of water ,salt, protein. Inflammation both controls bleeding and infection. This phase damaged cells pathogens and bacteria are removed from the wound area. Swelling, heat redness, pain commonly seen during this stage.it is problematic if prolonged or excessive.
Proliferative phase
When the wound is re built with new tissues made up of collagen and extracellular matrix new networks of blood vessels must be constructed so that granulation tissue can be healthy and receive oxygen and nutrients .Healthy granulation tissue is pink or red and uneven texture and does not bleed easily.
Maturation phase
It is the remodeling stage.collagen is remodeled from type 111 to type 1and wound fully closes.Remodeling begins 21 days after an injury cross linking collagen fibres reduces scar thickness and also make wound area stronger.
Failure of this 4 stages make chronic wounds
Tissue which lack direct blood supply that is avascular tissue. Typically blood vessels such as arterial and venous net works are absent in tissues.

Explain the process of wound healing by primary, secondary, and tertiary intention. Explain the red-yellow-black wound concept (description, characteristics, give examples) Red Wound Yellow Wound Black Wound Explain surgical, mechanical, autolytic, and enzymatic debridement. Describe the risk factors for pressure ulcers. Differentiate the characteristics of a stage I, II, III, IV, deep tissue injury, and an unstageable ulcers. (See table 12-13).
Wound Management Match the following terms with the different stages of wound healing: Inflammation, Haemostasis, Epithelialisation, Maturation and Proliferation and granulation Stages/Physiological and biochemical actions Stages 1.1) Stage1: Vasoconstriction, Platelet aggregation and activation of fibrin 1.2) Stage 2:Vasodilation, flushing of wound with serous fluid, phagocytosis; 1.3) Stage 3:Angiogenesis, deposition of collagen, formation of new tissue and wound contraction 1.4) Stage 4: Realignment of collagen, regaining normal tissue strength
Give an example of each of the four types of wound healing. Describe for the rationale for choosing each of these answers. How long will it take a wound to heal? please type answers
