Nick translation is an example of the process that would occur when DNA polymerase I is replacing an RNA primer with DNA. Which of these activities would be involved in nick translation?

5'-3' exonuclease and 5'-3' polymerase :

Replication is initiated by DNA polymerase in the 5'- 3' direction with the help of an RNA primer and is finally replaced with DNA. During the termination of replication there is a need to join the newly synthesized DNA strand with the existing RNA primer in the 5'- 3' direction. Hence to remove the RNA primer with the ongoing DNA strand, a polymerase with 5'-3' exonuclease which can remove RNA in the 5'- 3' direction is necessary.
