If impairment in the enzyme pyruvate dehydrogenase ( which present in eukaryotes cells inside the mitochondrial matrix) them body is not able efficiently break down nutrients into food to be used for the energy,so it is difficult to produce energy from dextrin(which is form of sugar) .
