So it has happened with me a few years back when I was actively looking for a new job, and I found an interesting profile of Marketing Manager in a start-up, but looking appealing company. Since my profile was into marketing and social media, I found the description exactly suited for me. I took leave of half-day and went for the interview. The office was quite small, which I was expecting, where I had to wait for 4 hours since the founders had not arrived. After that, the interview started in which I briefed about my education, skills, experience, and also that how can I help their start-up. And, when I thought that we had reached the final stages of the interview, one of the founders told me that this position is mainly for sales and business development and marketing and social media would be a very small part of it. It was quite a shock for me, as I had invested a large amount of time preparing for the interview and appearing for it. I asked them that if this was the profile then they should have mentioned that in the job posting itself. They simply passed the buck on the poor HR team for this mess.
I think what went wrong was the miscommunication in posting the job. It was clearly a sales job, which they should have mentioned. Since it was not mentioned, I and others were miscommunicated and wasted our times and efforts.

Choose one individual in a managerial position for your interview. DO NOT submit your final paper as a Question/Answer format. Rather, you should discuss the thoughts, comments, and/or observations resulting from an interview. The benefit of this assignment is the insight you gain into the real managerial world, what you take away from the interview that will make you a better manager, or those practices/principles that you would emulate or avoid/alter. I am primarily interested in what you gained from...
