1) Warm air passing over cold water off the coast of San Francisco produces fog in the summer. Given what we know about convection cells due to cool ocean and hot land, hypothesize how fog created off the coast of San Francisco moves toward east towards the Central Valley.
These are advection fogs which are common in Sanfransico Bay. The warm air from the central valleys moves over the cold ocean condenses the water vapour present in the air thereby producing fog. This phenomenon happens in summer as the ocean is cold because of the cold current and land is hot, since it is summer.
