If the model is a linear regression model, then the researcher should look for R-square or adjusted R-square values as a measure of goodness of fit of the model.

If the model is a logistic regression model, then the researcher should look for ROC curve, area under the curve (AUC) or Hosmer Lemeshaw goodness of fit test can be performed.
