ANSWER :-

  1. Steric hindrance is associated with slowing of reaction with respect to the involved reactants and occurs due to bulking effect.
  2. Relate this process with respect to van der Waals interaction and the Hydrogen binding between the double stranded DNA molecules.
  3. These are involved in enhancing the stability of the structures and more specifically the major grooves to correct the orientation of the molecule.
  4. Gold nanoparticles are basically used to tag DNA particles more specifically the DNA probes. Although steric hindrance will depend upon the groups attached to the adjacent DNA molecules. This in turn determines the types of bonds being formed in native state.
  5. In short, the adjacent gold nanoparticles would produce the associated bulk wherein the the strands of probes gets stabilized. This is how by means of process of stacking, the molecules integrate into each other in terms of van der Waals force which maintains stability.
