G-actin is a globular protein. But G- actin monomers polymerize to form polymer F-actin. An F-actin polymer is fibrous because of the number of monomers joined to form a polymer. Each G-actin protein has active sites for attachment to the cross bridges originating from primary myosin filaments.

Hydrolysis of ATP in to ADP reduces the strength between monomers and decreases the stability of the polymer.
