Pollen grains of gymnosperms represent male gametophyte whereas spores of ferns do not represent any sex.

Pollen grains are derived from gametophyte by mitosis whereas spores of ferns are developed from sporophyte by meiosis.

Pollen grains are highly resistant to unfavourable condition and remain viable for thousands of years whereas spores are not.

Pollen grains are borne inside male cone whereas sprores are borne inside sporangium.

Pollen grains of gymnosperms are winged wheres spores do not have any wings.

(Ferns are monilophytes)
