1) choose a restaurant the kid’s menu from your town? List or post a photo of the kid’s menu you chose. How do these menu items reflect the North American myth about what children will eat? How does this myth contribute to serious health consequences in developed countries? Based on this, how does it change or reinforce your view of what types of food to feed kids in early childhood?
2) Based on Emotional and Social Development: Parenting, name the type and describe the parenting style of your primary caregiver toward you as a child in terms of demandingness and responsiveness. How has this parenting type influenced your level of being independent, creative, self-assured, and socially skilled? Imagining yourself as a parent, would you raise your children in the same way? Why or why not.

Answer #1

Answer 1. I have chosen PANERA food restaurant in America. It provides with a kids menu that is completely different from other places. It has the following items in the menu:-

1. Mac and cheese

2. Cup of soup

3. Half salad

4. Peanut butter and jelly

5. Grilled cheese

6. Turkey sandwich

7. Ham sandwich

All items are sold with choice of - organic yogurt , apple , baguette and sprouted grain roll.

The general myth of North American food chains is that children are more into junk and they should be given junk to eat. Chains like mc Donald’s attract children with toys and happy meals. This is simply a marketing strategy . They don’t realise that kids are at a very crucial stage of their life and habits form during this age. If they eat junk food they are more likely to get addicted to it. Some food chains provide with a special kids menu . One of them is PANERA.
Panera , provides with some healthy options for kids that are more nutritional and healthy as compared to other food chains. The food is made in whole wheat breads with full vegetables. They do not serve arrested drinks to the kids . Instead the serve milk to them. This is Avery good move by this food chain and it is breaking myths in North America.

According to me the type of foods that should be given during childhood are:- whole wheat breads , lots of green veggies , organic products, juice , milk , full meal with all types of vitamins and nutrients.
No junk , sodas , arrested drinks , spices , artificial salts and chemicals , food colourings should be used or given to kids in childhood.

Answer 2. My care giver used the Authoritative parenting style. They were always sensitive to my needs and wants. At the same time they always set limits for me . They used both positive and negative reinforcement . I was never punished but yes I was clearly told the difference between right and wrong. It has impacted my overall personality in a lot of ways. I as a. Mature individual am more confident, self assured , independent and socially intelligent. I know what to do and what not to do. And all thanks to my parents to raise me like this. If I become a parent , I would definitely use the Authoritative parenting style with my parents because it is the best style to use and I know the product is also very good.

Our style of attachment affects everything from our partner selection to how well our relationships progress to, sadly, how they end. That is why recognizing our attachment pattern can help us understand our strengths and vulnerabilities in a relationship. An attachment pattern is established in early childhood attachments and continues to function as a working model for relationships in adulthood. This model of attachment influences how each of us reacts to our needs and how we go about getting them...
