As we all know that, businesses are become more global and there are companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon etc hire employees all around the work on projects so these people are not from same background, culture and country. this pool of people from global parts of world for completing the project create diverse workforce. In such cases or situations, when company hire people from diverse background often face legal issues like discrimination based on age, color, gender, disability etc.
To deal with such legal issues, Company can get help the knowledge under laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 because if global companies want successful project with diverse workforce without having any discriminatory legal issues then they should know about it.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is federal legislation passed in 1990 that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities. The law made it illegal to discriminate against a disabled person in terms of employment opportunities, access to transportation, public accommodations, communications, and government activities. The law prohibits private employers, state and local governments, employment agencies, and labor unions from discriminating against the disabled. Employers are required to make reasonable accommodations in order for a disabled person to perform their job function.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is landmark federal legislation that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex and national origin. Civil rights protect every one of us, not just some of us. They insure that each citizen is protected from discrimination under the law.
both laws are very important for companies creating diverse workforce for any purpose like project management because diversity means having people working in company from different background like age, gender, color, handicap etc so there are chances of having some discrimination like Employee of google may bring legal suit against company saying that company refused her job saying she is black or she is female and not good for the project they are working on.
I think if companies do not understand the importance of these laws described above then they face legal issues also projects they are working will be hindered or maybe not complete on time or ever. there are cases which are put to stop because of legal issues and companies were not able to manage its diverse workforce legally and underestimate the significance of these laws. So, companies should have projects which promote diversity , cultural awareness and inclusion at workplace at global level so that these laws can be in favor of companies.
