Variants of this MTHFD 1 gene produces a phenotype enzyme which produced huge folate and thus it has necessitates of more choline as choline and folate function similarly partly.

Homocysteine is an Amino acids which is a risk factor associated with cardiovascular disease.

Choline and folate are both essential in detoxifying the homocysteine and also in the case of s- adenosyl methionine formation which is used in methylation reaction that why if folate is being converted then the choline is needed very much.
