Consider ethernet/IP, Profinet and foundation fieldbus HSE. Which layers of the OSI Model would be used for these systems (they are the same for all 4 systems ) please provide examples of the individual protocols (or standards) used at each layer. You do not need to specify layer 7

Below are the layers used for ethernet/IP, Profinet and foundation fieldbus HSE systems,

  • Layer 1 (physical layer)
  • Layer 2 (Data link layer)
  • Layer 3 (Network layer)
  • Layer 4 (Transport layer)
  • Layer 7 (Application layer)

Protocols used in each layer for these systems,

Layer 1 :

  • Data transmission technologies

Layer 2 :

  • CSMA/CD technologies

Layer 3 :

  • IP (internet protocol)

Layer 4 :

  • TCP (transmission control protocol)
  • UDP (user datagram protocol)
