Ans) Dose-response relationship:

- It is the relationship between the amount of exposure (dose) to a substance and the resulting changes in health outcome (Response)

Response- the biological effect of the agent

Two types of dose-response curves:
- Individual dose-response relationship - the graded response of an individual to varying doses of the chemical.

- quantal dose-response relationship - describes the distribution of responses to different doses in a population of individual.

- An example: J-or U-shaped

At low doses, there is a deficiency/adverse effect at very high doses, an adverse response appears from toxicity

Example: vitamin A can cause liver toxicity and birth defects at high doses, and vitamin A deficiency is lethal
