Answer #1

a) i.we refluxing the reaction mixture if there no chilling condenser then solvent will get evaporated and it will get dry. Also boiling point of ethyl iodide is 72°C which will also get escape from reaction mixture and finally no rectione that's the reason chilling condenser is required for this reaction.

ii. If we heat this reaction in closed vessel lot of pressure will generate and it may blast the vessel so we can not heat this reaction in closed vessel.

b.i. If we reflux methoxide with ethyl iodide Methoxide will attack on ethyl iodide and there will be no ethyl iodide available for reaction with acetaminophen.

ii. We will get Methoxyethane or Methyl ethyl ether as a product.

PROCEDURE CAUTION!!! Nitric acid and sulfuric acid are strong and corrosive acids. For that reason, avoid inhaling its vapors or causing any contact with the skin or clothing. Wear your protective glasses at all times. Use the extractors to work with these acids. A. Nitration of methyl benzoate 1. Preparation of the reactants. In the extractor you will find a burette with concentrated sulfuric acid, a second burette with concentrated nitric acid, clearly identified. Familiarize yourself with the scales of...
