Answer #1

Pain is considered as one of the most powerful sensory perceptions perceived by the person. The person experiences worst at the extreme level and often requires adequate assessment and treatment. Main theories explain the pain differently. One of the theories is the Gate Control theory explained by Melzeck describes the pain in a better way.

According to this theory, pain is opened and closed by the neurons in the spinal cord. When the small fibers in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord are stimulated, the pain is open and is perceived by the person. when the large fibers are stimulated, then the pain is closed. This theory believes that the influence of the psychological factors increases or decreases the pain. Anxiety, depression, bodily injury influence the opening of the neural gate. Remedies, emotional balance, behavioral support closes the neural gate. The nerve fibers' activity and level are influenced by these factors. This theory focuses mainly on cognitive-behavioral approaches to pain management.
