I am expecting a paragraph-length post for these short answer questions. Generally the question will require you to answer a question and back it up with some kind of explanation.

Question: Given that metamorphic rocks are typically more dense and resistant to physical weathering than other rock types they would seem to be ideal as a building material. However, metamorphic rocks are not commonly used for building material. What might be some of the drawbacks or limits of metamorphic rocks that have prevented widespread use in construction?

It is true that Metamorphic rocks are typically denser and resistance to physical weathering than other rock types they would seem to be ideal as a building material as metamorphic rocks are tightly packed and slippery in nature which easily saves it from any weathering process.

Regardless of all these specialties, Metamorphic rock is not commonly used for building material because it is not tightly packed and slippery in nature while cementing and this will make the building vulnerable from any disaster. Due to its compact nature, it would be tough to make a grip between the bricks of a building and that's why metamorphic rocks are not preferred as a building material.

Some of the drawbacks are as follows:

  • Unable to make a grip between bricks due to its slippery nature
  • metamorphic rocks are tough which does not allow a compact bond while cementing
