Whether you are using a standard keyboard or an enhanced version, such as a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard, configuration software is readily available to you. In this project, you view the keyboard settings in Windows XP/Vista/7, Server 2003/Server 2003 R2, or Server 2008/Server 2008 R2.

To view basic keyboard configuration settings inWindows XP or Server 2003/Server 2003 R2:

1. In Windows XP, click Start and click Control Panel. And, in Windows Server 2003, click Start and point to Control Panel.

2. In Windows XP, click Printers and Other Hardware (in the Category View), and click Keyboard. In Windows Server 2003, click Keyboard.

3. What tabs are available for your keyboard? What options do you see on each tab?

4. Click Cancel and close any open Windows, such as the Printers and Other Hardware window in Windows XP.

To view basic keyboard configuration settings in Windows Vista/7 or Server 2008/Server 2008 R2:

1. Click Start and click Control Panel. If necessary, set Control Panel for Classic View in Windows Vista or Server 2008. Or, set the Control Panel View by option for Large icons or Small icons in Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2.

2. Double-click Keyboard.

3. What tabs are available for your keyboard? See Figure 6-22 for a keyboard with a lot of options. Whatoptions do you see on each tab for your keyboard?

4. Click Cancel and close any open Windows, such as the Printers and Other Hardware window in Windows XP.
