Problem

Figure shows the cross section of an aluminum beam made by fastening a llat plate to the bottom of a roll-formed hat section. If the beam is used as a cantilever, 24 in long, compute the maximum allowable concentrated load that can be applied at the end if the maximum stress is to be no more than one-eighth of the ultimate strength of 2014-T4 aluminum.
