Repeat Problem, but set the support beam in 18 in from the ends of the joists instead of at the ends.

Problem

A wood deck is being designed to carry a uniformly distributed load over its entire area of 100 lb/ft2. Joists are to be used as shown in Figure, set 16 in on center. If the deck is to be 8 ft by 12 ft in size, determine the required size for the joists. Use standard wooden beam sections from Appendix and No. 2 hemlock.
