Lightner Witmer was a psychologist. He worked under Wundt to earn his doctorate degree. He was one of the charter members from the American association of psychology. He started his career of clinical psychologist by working with a child, who was just fourteen year old and was suffering from dyslexia. He designed the course to deal with the children, who are criminally disturbed, mentally ill and blind.
He was one, who had established the psychology clinic at the University of Pennsylvania. He raised s journal to define and promote the clinical psychology profession. He was the one, who developed the concept of clinical psychology just in a way Wundt had developed the experimental psychology.
Later Witmer was declared as the father of the clinical psychology. He was the first to declare the upcoming psychology as the basis of unique profession, which will be used to cater help among people. He developed as well as established the implementation of the concept of the clinical psychology. Witmer coined the term called as clinical psychology so, he also known as the father of clinical psychology.
