What major phenomena did Puysegur observe during his research on artificial somnambulism?

Marquis de Puysegur used the approach of magnetism for discovering certain other phenomenon. He did experiments by magnetizing the person; he placed the person in the trance of peaceful sleep. Person was able to respond to the commands of Puysegur in the state, where he appeared to be slept. He instructed the magnetized person to perform various activities including motor activities.

He observed that patient is unable to recollect the events of magnetized state on waking up. He believed that the crisis of the patients is replaced by the trance of magnetized sleep. He named this phenomenon as the artificial somnambulism. He found the therapeutic usefulness of the magnetized sleep. He gained the importance of the somnambulistic state as he observed suggestibility of the individuals.
