Solution 1

Psychotherapy is a procedure to treat mental illness of patients and there are three approaches to treatment.

1. Psychological approach

2. Supernatural approach

3. Biological approach

Psychological model states that mental illness develops when patient undergoes perturbations due to physical factors, such as fear, guilt, stress and others. Under these circumstances, therapy of psychological approach involves recreating these disturbances in a process called catharsis. The care-takers provide love and support to patients to analyze problems skillfully and overcome them effectively.

In supernatural approach, offerings are made to the invading evil spirits that are believed to have entered into human bodies. The offerings are in the form of bribery, intimidation, reverence, and sometimes exorcism is performed to ward off evil spirits.

Trepanation is another practice, where a manual hole is made in the skull of affected person, so that evil spirits find a way out.

In biological approach, medicines are sought to relieve the stress developed in brain. In olden days, Egyptians used natural treatment methods that involved massage, herbal remedies and vapor baths. Abnormalities develop in brain, if it is too cold, dry, hot or moist, and all therapies involved retain brain to its native state.
